HEMATOLOGY LABORATORY

The clinical hematology laboratory performs a wide variety of basic and advance hematology testing on whole blood, cerebrospinal fluid and other body fluids.

1. Routine hematology and coagulation testing is available 24x7.
2. Additionally, advance hematological test are a performed using a variety of techniques including electrophoresis based method are available in hematology department.
3. This laboratory is divided into the following functions.

Routine Hematology

1. Complete blood count
2. Reticulocyte count
3. PBS Examinatin
4. Automated system for ESR westergren

Special hematology & Body fluid

1. Bone marrow examination
2. Bio rad machine (D-10) used for analyzing Hba1c, HbA2 and HbF by HPLC method.
3. Sickling test

Coagulation

1. Routine coagulation testing (PT/APTT & D-Dimer)

1. The latest fully automated equipments available in hematology laboratory include, cell dyn ruby
   (fully automatic 5 part cell counter), sysmex XN-1000(fully automatic 6 part cell counter), Stago
   compact, Stago Start-4, Vesmatic cube-30 (ESR)
   All samples are performed under NABL ISO 15189 Guideline.

TAT (Turn around time) for various test done in hematology department are as follows-

1. Routine test done within 6 hours.
2. Urgent test done within 2 hours.
3. Coagulation test done within 2 hours.
4. Special test done within 5 days.
