Pain and Spine clinic:-

Interventional pain management or Minimally Invasive Spine Intervention (MIS) is a discipline of medicine devoted to the treatment of chronic, persistent and intractable pain by application of some minimally invasive procedure to give permanent or long term pain relief. MIS/IPM (Interventional Pain Management) procedures are done in the OT under real time fluoroscopy (C-ARM) or USG guidance for percutaneous precision to target pain generators.

How can we help:

The pain and spine clinic at VPIMS has a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment of wide range of Spine and Chronic Pain related conditions.

  • Low back/Neck pain:

Disc prolapse, degenerated and Herniated disc, sciatica, failed spinal surgery syndrome, Facet/Sacroiloac joint arthropathy, Spondylosis, Coccdynia.

  • Headache/Orofascial pain/Neuralgias:

  • Cervicogenic headache, Migraine, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia, Herpes zoster, Myofascial pain syndrome, Fibromyalgia.
  • Joint pains:

  • Osteoarthritis of Knee, Hip, Shoulder, Frozen shoulder, Tennis elbow, Golfer's Elbow, Planter fasciitis.
  • Cancer pain:

Head and neck cancer, Abdominal cancer, Metastatic cancer, Pelvic cancer, Lung cancer, Soft tissue cancer.
  • Chronic painful conditions:

  • Chronic pelvic pain, perineal pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), Phantom limb pain and other chronic pain conditions.

Treatment options:-

Disc related spinal pain:

  • Transforaminal epidural injection-for sciatica/prolapse disc
  • Epidurolysis-Caudal/Tranforaminal neuroplasty for failed spinal surgery syndrome
  • Intradiscal RF therapy-for Discogenic pain
  • Ozone therapy-Prolapse disc, Sciatica
  • Percutaneous endoscopic/non endoscopic disc removal procedures
  • Facet/S.I. Joint RF/block

Headache, Neuralgias, Myofascial pain:

  • Ganglion blocks (Trigeminal/Glossopharyngeal/Sphenopalatine)
  • Trigger point injection
  • Occipital nerve block/RF
  • Radiofrequency ablation

Joint Pains/Tendinopathy:

  • Intarticular injections
  • Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy
  • RF neurolysis of joint innervations
  • USG guided PRP therapy for tendinopathy

Cancer pain:

  • Sympathetic plexus block (Celiac, Hypogastric, Ganglion impar)
  • Stellate ganglion block
  • Neurolysis/Radiofrequency lesioning

Other Chronic pains:

  • Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures
  • Stellate/Lumbar sympathetic blocks-sympathetic mediated pain/CRPS
